The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most notable Hydroelectric structures in the Country. This includes the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington State (constructed between 1933 and 1942) and the Bonneville Lock and Dam located 40 miles east of Portland, Oregon.

According to the US Army Corps of Engineers, Hydroelectric power stations in the United States are currently the largest renewable source of energy. Hydroelectric power produced 35% of the total renewable electricity in the U.S. in 2015, and 6.1% of the total U.S. electricity with power generating dams in all but two states. Hydroelectric comprises about 16 percent of the world’s electricity.

Common fabricated gate components include:

  • Radial Arm Gate

  • Trunnions

  • Auxiliary Spillway

Fabrication and installation of these complicated hydroelectric structures requires sophisticated methods and qualified personnel. The majority of projects require certified fabricators by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). PQS CEO Nate Lindell is the Chairman of the newly formed AISC Hydraulic Metal Structures Committee bringing vast knowledge, experience and credibility to your project.
